Sudden Death of Mr. Mark Bundy. It becomes our sad duty to chronicle the death of another of Douglas county’s old settlers, Mr. Mark Bundy, of Lake Mary, which occurred suddenly of heart disease last Thursday morning (September 1, 1881), at the age of 51 years and 11 months. Mr. Bundy was born at Salisbury, England, October 1st. 1830, and came to Toronto, Canada, when seven years of age. At the age of sixteen he enlisted in the Mexican war and served until its close. He also enlisted in the war of the rebellion from Cleveland, Ohio, and served three years and was discharged in November 1866. During his enlistment he took part in over 200 engagements. In March, 1867, he came to Douglas county where he has since resided. He leaves a widow, in whose sore bereavement a great many friends will deeply sympathize. The funeral took place from Emmanuel church in this place last Saturday afternoon, Rev. Thos. K. Allen officiating. (The Douglas County News, Thursday, September 8, 1881, Page 4)
Sudden Death. Mark Bundy, an estamable [sic] and prominent citizen of Lake Mary, an old resident and active business man, suddenly fell dead, probably from a stroke of apoplexy while near his home Thursday morning of this week. Until the coroner, Dr. Deniston, reports, further particulars cannot be given. (The Alexandria Post, Friday, September 2, 1881, Page 4)
