The 1880 United States census showed Frederick Eder (age 19, born in Minnesota, clerk) living with his parents Christian (age 59, born in Germany, boarding house keeper) and Fredericka (age 40, born in Germany) in Chaska, Minnesota. His other siblings were Henry (age 17, born in Minnesota), Philip (age 15, born in Minnesota), and Paulina (age 13, born in Minnesota).

Eder, general partners, and Otto Streissguth, special partner, dealers in merchandise, etc., is dissolved this 18th day of October, A. D. 1883, by mutual consent, H. W. Reichow and Otto Streissguth retiring, the succeeding partner, F. W. Eder, to pay all debts and collect all outstanding accounts. Fred W. Eder sues William Lettau and the sureties on his bond given to erect a school building at the corner of St. Anthony avenue and St. Albans street. The plaintiff claims $631.55 for account of a balance for brick furnished in the erection of the building. Henning & Melvin have sued the same parties to recover $148 for brick furnished in erecting the same building, and Ansel W. Children Emma (age 25, born in Minnesota), Clarence (age 22, born in Minnesota), Harold (age 19, born in Minnesota), Frank (age 16, born in Minnesota), and Adelaide (age 15, born in Minnesota) also lived with the couple.
Fred Eder moved to Saskatchewan, Canada.
Fred W. Eder died December 6, 1951. He is buried in St. Mark’s Cemetery, Shakopee.
