Anton Anderson Funeral Saturday. Whalan, Minn. – (Special to The Republican-Herald) – Funeral services for Anton E. Anderson, 82, who died at St. Francis hospital, La Crosse, at 3 a. m. Tuesday from a heart ailment, will be conducted at the Whalan Lutheran church at 2 p. m. Saturday, with preliminary services at 1:30 p. m. at the home here. The Rev. Henry Rydland of Peterson will officiate and burial will be in the family lot in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be A. R. Berge, A. M. Evenson, D. M. Backman, Johnnie Bostrack, J. O. Lona and Peter Chiglo. Honorary pallbearers will be Arnold, Marvin and Lawrence Peterson of Houston, Norlin Olson of Whalan, Norman Anderson of Lanesboro and Harold and Eugene Swanson and Stanley Ketchell of La Crosse. Mr. Anderson became ill a week ago and was taken to the hospital Friday. His wife was at his bedside when he died. Mr. Anderson was born in Holt township, Fillmore county, November 9, 1857, son of Lars and Dorthea Anderson. He became a resident of Whalan at the age of 19. When he was 23 he married Taletta Strand. She died October 27, 1894. No children were born to them. On June 29, 1904, he married Lena Tobiason. There were six children, four of whom survive. Mr. Anderson formed a partnership with his uncle, the late Anthony Anderson, and they ran a general store here for several years. Later the partnership was dissolved and they became proprietors of separate stores. For 25 years Mr. Anderson was proprietor and manager of an elevator in the village. Fifteen years ago he retired from active business. He served as village treasurer for 30 years. Survivors are his wife; one son Irvin; three daughters, Myrtle, Mrs. Norman Larson (Adeline) and Amelia, all at home; one brother, Hans Anderson of Whalan and one sister, Mrs. Mary Ketchell of La Crosse.
